Bakery Class Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have never baked before?

We welcome bakers of all experience levels into our bakeries.  We do recommend, however, that you take our introductory courses first (Bread Baking Basics, Part I or Biscuits and Scones) to familiarize yourself with basic techniques and vocabulary used in the bakery.

Which class should I take first?

We recommend that all students interested in bread baking begin with our Bread Baking Basics, Part I class, even if they have prior bread baking experience.

We recommend all students interested in pastry begin with our Biscuits & Scones class.

Fundamental techniques and basic vocabulary are taught in these courses that apply to all of our baking classes and will ensure you can make the most of the material taught in our classes.

How many students are in each class?

The exact number will vary but we keep our bakery classes small and intimate to ensure all students receive plenty of hands-on experience and one-on-one instruction from our bakers.

What is the minimum age to participate?

Students must be at least 13 years of age to attend our bakery classes.

How long are classes?

Bakery classes typically run between 1.5 and 3 hours but please check individual class descriptions for specifics.

How much do classes cost?

Bakery classes cost between $50 and $125 per session.  Please check individual class descriptions for specifics.

What if I have a food allergy?

Please be mindful that our bakery is not gluten, nut or dairy-free and we ask that if you have a severe allergy that you err on the side of caution and do not take the risk.  If you do have a food allergy, please email us at classes@lepainquotidien.com in advance of registering to ensure our instructors are aware of your allergy and accommodations can be made if possible.

When are classes posted?

Our bakery classes are posted one month prior on the first Friday of every month.  If you would like to join our mailing list to be notified when classes are released please email classes@lepainquotidien.com

What is included in my registration fee?

Every class includes knowledgeable and convivial instruction from one of our seasoned bakers on the topic of your choice.  At the conclusion of each class, every student will leave with the fruits of their labor to enjoy with family and friends as well as the recipes covered in class.

I registered for class but didn’t receive a confirmation email. Why not?

If you have not received a confirmation email, then you have not fully completed the registration process and your spot is not reserved. Most likely, you did not complete the payment portion of registration through PayPal and you should register again.  If you are having an issue please verify that your credit card has not been charged for the class and email classes@lepainquotidien.com

What is your cancelation policy?

We require at least two weeks withdrawal notice for a full refund.  Class credit will be issued for any notice given 4-13 days before the scheduled class date (students can attend class at a later date, when there is space available).

No refund or credit will be issued for notice given 72 hours or less before the scheduled class date. You may, however, transfer your seat to a friend but please email classes@lepqainquotidien.com with the name of the new attendee.

Because our classes require advance preparations no exceptions will be made to this policy.  We appreciate your understanding.

We reserve the right to cancel a class (for low enrollment, bad weather, etc.) with advance notification and we will provide a refund or class credit.

Do you have a waitlist?

We do have a waitlist but due to the popularity of our classes, we rarely have the opportunity to pull from it. We recommend that you register for an open date and then email classes@lepainquotidien.com and request to be placed on the waitlist for an earlier date.

We will accommodate requests in the order that they are received.

Do you have gift certificates?

Gift certificates are available for our bakery classes. They can be purchased online by visiting our bakeries’ class calendars here. For more information feel free to contact classes@lepainquotidien.com.

Can I purchase a class as a gift?

Of course! You can purchase a specific class for a friend or family member by completing the registration under their name.  Please be sure to include their correct contact information.

Do you offer private events?

We offer a wide variety of private events for all ages and groups of up to 30 guests.  If you are interested read more about our private events here and contact us at classes@lepainquotidien.com.
