Fall weekends call for cozy brunches in the comfort of your own home - and there is perhaps no dish as effortless yet impressive as the perfect french toast. This version - made with challah, apples, and honey - not only captures the flavors of the season, but incorporates ingredients traditionally eaten during Rosh Hashanah to symbolize the sweetness that we hope the coming year will bring.

Pick up a challah loaf at your local Le Pain Quotidien on and put together this decadent toast that will help you and your brunch guests ring in the new year sweetly!

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, orange zest, vanilla, honey and salt in a shallow dish or bowl.
  2. Add bread slices to the mixture and gently press them down so they are completely submerged. Let the bread soak in the mixture for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, heat a pan over medium heat and melt butter. Cook the toast slices until they are golden brown on each side.
  4. Top with apple slices, cinnamon and a drizzle of honey.
