Our Story

Le Pain Quotidien (French for “the daily bread”) is a bakery-restaurant group founded in Brussels in 1990 by Alain Coumont. As a young chef dissatisfied with the quality of bread available in Brussels, Coumont started making his own organic sourdough bread with just four ingredients: flour, water, salt and time. Le Pain Quotidien now has more than 210 bakeries in 19 countries. Our mission is to create meaningful connections in a home away from home, with simple but delicious and authentic and local cuisine made in-house.

We set franchisees up for success from the very beginning, offering thorough market analysis, legal support, and strategic planning, followed by a discovery visit to Belgium and tailored design assistance.


As they open their doors, our team provides hands-on training and daily operational support, ensuring brand standards and quality. This close guidance empowers new franchisees to confidently manage their bakery.


After opening, we celebrate their launch with our signature “Breaking the Baguette” ceremony, followed by continuous operational and brand supervision. Regular reviews, coaching, and support for R&D and growth keep their bakery thriving long-term.

Our Flagship sites are expansive, offering a full dine-in experience and a bakery atelier for fresh goods. These are strategically located in busy areas, featuring take-away sections, housed within distinctive buildings, and ideally occupy a space starting from 250m².

Neighbourhood

The Community Locales nestle within residential zones, close to educational and recreational areas, ideal for guests desiring a relaxed meal in a homely environment. These spots aim for a welcoming atmosphere with a recommended space of over 200m². 

Casablanca, Morocco

City Centre

Urban Centre Eateries enjoy central city spots, ensuring constant foot traffic. They cater to quick-service demands as well as leisurely dining, with space for both take-away and sit-down options, optimally occupying up to 150m².

Small Format

Compact Venues offer swift, efficient service in transit areas and shopping centres, often operational round-the-clock. These units are primarily for counter service, with seating for quick stops, designed within approximately 100m².

Kiosk

Retail Kiosks are perfect for enclosed shopping centres and transit stations, providing an open and inviting atmosphere. The service is exclusively counter-based in these snug settings, with a smart use of space up to 35m².
