Built in the late 1800s, the Queen Anne-style James G. Blaine Mansion represents the last surviving example of the mansions that once surrounded Dupont Circle. The former home of Republican politician James G. Blaine is still a residence and we are happy to occupy its annex. The reclaimed wood and exposed brick throughout our store offer a taste of the building’s history, while our sunny patio overlooking the busy intersection of P Street & 20th Streets NW will bring you back into the buzz of the city

Our founderAlain Coumont was born into a family of cooks. His grandparents had a restaurant, his father was a chef, and his aunt Simone was a talented pâtissier who baked tarts every Saturday for the whole family to devour on Sunday. When he was 6 years old, Alain began reading from the two cookbooks on the shelf at home. He taught himself to cook by reading recipes and hints from famous chefs.
